THE
MUSLIMS
Sweet Tooth Records is excited about our second release: a 7-inch from one of Southern California's most exciting new bands, The Muslims. Freshly off their successful SXSW tour, they have quickly gained national buzz with their unique minimal rock/rough pop sound with hints of Warsaw, the Velvet Underground and the Modern Lovers. They were recently nominated as “Best New Artist” at the San Diego Music Awards.
Here's what people are saying about the Muslims:
"Perhaps the best example of their song craft is “Extinction,” a simple, excellent song with a punk attitude. The opening lyrics—“If you gimme a gun/I’ll point it at you”—are anchored by a catchy guitar line that builds toward a cymbal-bashing chorus. Even the guitar solo, which recalls Mick Jones’ break in The Clash’s cover of “Police and Thieves,” is a treat." - San Diego CityBeat
"It's the first thing I've heard in awhile that I want to listen to over and over and over again." - Music For Robots
"BAND TO WATCH: Whatever the mix of forerunners, the Muslims find a way to make it their own -- it's kinda uncanny." - Stereogum
"The Muslims is the sound of guitars, drums and bass all put out there with effortless rock and roll energy and genuineness and directness. Simple shit, but really fucking good." - Some Velvet Blog
"The songs are full of post-punk infused rock n' roll." - Pop-Pop in the Attic
"I’m captivated by a handful of songs by a band I know little about and I can’t think about anything but this mesmerizing garage punk bursting through my stereo....“Extinction” comes off totally raw in both its sound and lyrics, but there’s no denying the ear-snagging hooks and confident swagger." Punknews.org
"San Diego's The Muslims play really good lo-fi punk that's seeped in history. It's sort of sloppy, and probably fueled by booze, and if you shut your eyes you just might think you're listening to the Voidoids. They've certainly got the swagger." - Oh My Rockness
